About Lesson
ACV and RCV Insurance Types
There are two main types of homeowners insurance when it comes to roof damage: actual cash value (ACV) and replacement cost value (RCV).
- ACV insurance covers the depreciated value of your roof. This means that the insurance company will only pay you the amount that your roof was worth before it was damaged.
- RCV insurance covers the cost to replace your roof with a new one. This means that the insurance company will pay you the full cost of a new roof, regardless of how old your old roof was.
