Restoration clients are fundamentally different from traditional home repair/remodeling clients. They did not choose to be in this situation—damage from a storm, fire, or water loss forced them into it. These projects are often stressful, time-sensitive, and emotionally charged, with homeowners facing disruption, uncertainty, and financial pressure.
Restoration work also involves insurance, which introduces strict guidelines, documentation requirements, and coverage limitations. The scope of work is not driven by preference or upgrades, but by what is necessary to return the home to its pre-loss condition within the bounds of the insurance policy. Clear communication, accurate documentation, and advocacy are essential.
Because of these factors, restoration requires a different approach. The role of the restoration team is not to “sell,” but to act as an advocate and ally—helping the homeowner understand the process, navigate insurance requirements, and move forward with confidence. Speed, empathy, and professionalism matter more than persuasion.
