Ice Dams
An ice dam is a ridge of ice that forms along the edge of a roof, usually at the eaves, preventing melting snow from draining properly. This blockage can cause water to back up, seep under shingles, and potentially damage the roof structure, attic, and interior of a home.

When the snow or ice melts fast and then refreezes on a colder part of the roof (edge)
